US households have never owned more shares

American households have never allocated as much to equities as they do now. In the third quarter of 2024, their savings in equities reached a record 43.4% of their total wealth. This exceeds previous peaks for US households if reached in 2021, 2000 and 1969 before the S&P 500 bear markets took off. Sentiment has rarely been so bullish Is this a contrarian “sell” indicator?
