S&P500 trades at 5,000 for the first time ever
The US benchmark S&P500 index is trading at 5,000 for the first time ever. Since October 27, 2023, when this index bottomed out, it has now risen by 900 points. It also means that the index has added almost $8.5 trillion in market capitalization in just over three months. This is a historic development for shares. However, it can be mentioned that since Christmas 2021, the increase is only 4%.
