Did you know that Skistar gives a discount to its shareholders?
If you ski regularly, you are probably often in the mountains, and the probability that you will have skied downhill in a Skistar resort is very high. What few know is that it may be worth looking at their stock in this case. We rarely make buy recommendations, and this is not considered one, more of a way to take advantage of the few shareholder discounts that are available.
Anyone who owns 200 shares in this company, a cost of around SEK 24,000 as the share is trading at around SEK 120, gets a fifteen percent discount on lift tickets, which costs around SEK 3,000 per person per week. This gives a discount of around SEK 450 per person and lift pass. In addition, there is a dividend of SEK 3 per share, or a total of SEK 600 per item of 200 shares.
This corresponds to a “direct return ” of 8.75% for the family that skis for one week a year, and even more for those who spend more time than that on the ski resorts of Åre, Sälen, Trysil, Hemsedal and Vemdalen.
Whether it is a good deal in the long run is not something we want to comment on, but it is undeniably a good yield. This makes us wonder how much of all the shares in Skistar are owned by the downhill skier.
